Claudia Chan Tak, lauréate du Prix Envol 2022

In recognition of her authenticity, inclusiveness, engagement and generosity, the jury has awarded Claudia Chan Tak the Envol Award for 2022.

As a choreographer, dancer, producer and filmmaker, she plays a very active role in Montréal’s cultural landscape in a wide array of disciplines.

Among her many achievements, the jury singled out her outstanding contribution to the recognition of Asian artists during the pandemic. Her directory of Asian artists has had a real impact on the visibility of artists from that community by opening up a wide range of work opportunities.

In addition, her influence as Diversity Commissioner for the Phenomena Festival has further strengthened her role as a valuable ally of culturally diverse artists. Through her commitment to diversity, Claudia Chan Tak contributes directly to the development of a larger pool of culturally diverse artists and to breaking down prejudices.

On behalf of the Conseil and the Prix de la danse de Montréal teams, we offer her our sincere congratulations!

About the Envol Award

Since 2015, the Conseil des arts de Montréal has partnered with the Prix de la danse de Montréal to present the Envol Award, which recognizes Montréal’s artistic diversity in dance and highlights its essential contribution to the city’s artistic vitality. The distinction is accompanied by a $10,000 grant provided by the Conseil.
