The City of Montreal and the Conseil des arts de Montréal have launched the 2023 Visual Arts and Crafts Subsidies Program, whose budget is $ 735,000.
This program provides financial support for occupation of an artist’s studio for creation of original artistic expression or research. Professional artists in visual arts and crafts arts who rent or own a studio space (a building or part of a building) in a NON-residential property are eligible to apply.
The 2023 program (for 2022 leases) is now open. Applications must be submitted via an online form before March 31, 2023. Applications received after this date will be refused. All practical information and the application forms are available on the city website:

The Program 2022 offers for the visual arts and crafts subsidies program:
- the amount allocated for research-creation spaces is $ 13 per square meter of artist’s studio ($ 5.38 on behalf of the City of Montreal and $ 7.62 on behalf of the Conseil des arts de Montréal)
- an amount of $ 3 per square meter of artist’s studio is allocated for the storage space
