Socio-ecological transition
The CAM aims to play a leading role in collective efforts to tackle the climate crisis. That’s why we are transitioning our practices toward more accountable, fair and sustainable models.
Reducing our carbon footprint is at the heart of this process. Our actions are based on six priorities: sustainable transportation, digital economy, local and responsible procurement, waste management, financing and human resources.
Because the transition is a collective effort, we also support Montréal’s cultural communities in their own journeys. From training to tools, support and funding programs, we are implementing concrete ways to help organizations and artists incorporate environmentally responsible practices and strengthen their resilience in the face of the challenges of tomorrow.

Socio-ecological transition committee
The Conseil has set up a committee to pursue its environmental responsibility goals. This body plays a monitoring, advisory and support role.
Josée Duplessis, chair of the committee and a member of the Conseil’s Board of Directors, is a sociologist by training and has been a company director and business manager for 25 years. Her main areas of expertise include ethical governance, responsible management, public affairs, intercultural collaboration and operational excellence.
Lorène Cristini is executive director of the Centre de santé des femmes de Montréal. She has an extensive background in designing social responsibility strategies, climate change mitigation and adaptation projects, equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives within organizations, and the links between health, socio-economic inequality and environmental change.

Velina Serafimov is a sustainability and impact specialist at Fondaction Asset Management. She helps develop and implement the organization’s sustainability approach and supports investment teams by verifying the environmental and social viability of impact investment transactions.
Eco-responsibility training: a different way
Faced with the challenges of the socio-ecological transition, the cultural community is being called upon to rethink its ways of creating, producing and disseminating.
To help with this transformation, the Conseil des arts de Montréal offers arts organizations training to acquire knowledge, share expertise and develop more sustainable practices.
Organized with the support of committed partners, the Caisse Desjardins de la culture and the Fondation familiale Trottier, these training sessions provide participants with practical tools, opportunities for exchanging, and support tailored to the realities of Montréal’s artistic community.

The Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM) is proud to announce its support for 22 Montréal projects as part of the Programme de partenariat territorial en lien avec la collectivité de l’île de Montréal, carried out in collaboration with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).
