Montréal, July 18, 2025 — The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and the Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM) are pleased to announce $535,000 in funding for 24 organizations under the Programme de partenariat territorial en lien avec la collectivité de l’île de Montréal, created to support environmentally responsible production, presentation, promotion and consolidation projects and resource-pooling initiatives.

Description of funded projects
  • Ample Man Danse is receiving $27,000 to run a five-week public on-site co-creation residency in partnership with TOHU based on Avatarium, a travelling choreographic project that explores eco-citizenship and transformations in the natural environment.
  • Audiotopie Coop has been awarded $20,000 to produce Compo-stable, a series of three immersive installations co-created with Audiotopie and Recyborg.
  • Cinéma Public is receiving $23,000 to develop an environmental responsibility plan, adapt its screening venue and create programming that raises public awareness of environmental issues.
  • Circa Art Actuel will receive $29,000 to develop a shared organizational model that preserves the rich and varied programming of artist-run centres and creates levers for collective action.
  • Coop Coup d’Griffe will get $23,000 to integrate natural inks into its creative process, raise artist and public awareness about their use, and design a collaborative work with a small environmental footprint.
  • Danse Danse is receiving $15,000 to implement greener practices, reduce its environmental impact and raise public awareness of environmental issues as part of the JOAT International Street Dance Festival.
  • Eastern Bloc has been awarded $25,000 to implement a process for sharing spaces, resources and expertise with Studio SIT in order to foster innovative support for artists, a more eco-responsible management style and the sustainable management of public resources.
  • Ecoscéno is receiving $26,000 to roll out the third phase of the Montréal theatre pooling project, which includes data entry support, joint action workshops and training, to promote environmentally responsible, collaborative and economically sustainable management.
  • En Piste is getting $6,000 to work with Les Voyagements to share a specialized resource with the aim of co-developing sustainable development policies and action plans.
  • Ensemble Caprice will get $25,000 to present 60 musical works inspired by the trees in Mahatma Gandhi Park as part of a project combining ecology and cultural diversity.
  • Infinithéâtre has been awarded $24,000 to explore and adopt best practices in environmentally responsible design for its show Whalefall, in addition to creating and distributing educational materials to share the lessons learned in the process.
  • La danse sur les routes du Québec is receiving $9,000 to implement an environmental policy covering all its activities, with the help of the CQEER.
  • Les Compagnons Baroques has been awarded $25,000 to produce Cabaret des pas de côté, a festive show that brings artists and environmentalists together around grassroots stories of social and environmental transition, at Théâtre Aux Écuries.
  • Marguerite à Bicyclette will receive $22,000 to finalize the creation of the lyrical clown solo Pas si seul in partnership with La Compagnie des autres, with a view to readying the show for eco-friendly presentation in Québec while also promoting resource sharing.
  • MOMENTA is receiving $25,000 to partner with the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) and the Festival TransAmériques (FTA) to pool their human and financial resources, with support from a consultant.
  • Oktoécho is getting $28,000 to present a series of five concert-lectures where scientists join artists to discuss environmental issues.
  • Pétrus has been awarded $25,000 to co-develop with Sibyllines and Création dans la Chambre a sustainable model for pooling resources at Cité-des-Hospitalières, helping to foster environmental stewardship, collaboration and openness to the surrounding community.
  • The SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art is receiving $23,000 to develop a philanthropic resource-pooling project at Pôle 4001 Berri, promoting joint initiatives and enhanced collaboration to boost its social and financial impact in the community.
  • SAT is getting $20,000 to raise public awareness of digital arts–related environmental issues by exhibiting a work by Alice Jarry on the energy consumption of the building that houses it, in collaboration with MUTEK.
  • Théâtre Aux Écuries will receive $25,000 to develop two projects that combine environmental responsibility and resource pooling: a network of nomadic residences and community support for the deployment of eco-responsible measurement tools.
  • Théâtre de l’Oeil has been awarded $13,000 to pool the resources of four puppet theatre companies and develop a sustainability policy and associated action plans, working in collaboration with a firm specializing in environmental issues.
  • Théâtre Déchaînés is receiving $27,000 to carry out two resource-sharing projects that combine accessibility with environmental stewardship.
  • Théâtre Denise-Pelletier has been awarded $25,000 to roll out a pilot project offering a season-long eco-design training program.
  • Vías Arts et Durabilité is receiving $25,000 to put in place an environmental policy while pursuing the artistic and scientific research undertaken for its first regenerative art and contemporary dance work, Portals.
Selection process

All applications were reviewed by a committee of peers, formed by the CALQ, representing a variety of artistic fields. Projects were selected on merit, based on their quality and fit for the program’s objectives.

About the Entente de partenariat territorial en lien avec la collectivité du territoire de l’île de Montréal

The Programme de partenariat territorial en lien avec la collectivité de l’île de Montréal is the result of a three-year agreement (2025–2028) between the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Conseil des arts de Montréal. Under this program, the sum of $1,475,000 has been invested to support projects focusing on the environment or resource-pooling.
