Pilot project: Impact residency for circus arts

Applications deadline: October 15, 2019

The Conseil des arts de Montréal, Les 7 doigts de la main, Cirque Éloize, the circus arts national network En Piste and TOHU are launching the first edition of this pilot project. This pilot project for an arts collective or a circus arts organization will provide an opportunity to develop original creations through research and exploration of new circus arts dramatic writing, unfettered by the constraints of presentation. It also aims to promote “auteur” circus works and the emergence of new aesthetics.

The recipient will receive a Conseil des arts de Montréal grant to carry out a four-week residency in the studios of the Conseil des arts de Montréal, Les 7 doigts de la main, Cirque Éloize and TOHU. The residency will provide an opportunity to achieve an initial stage of documented development in order to then seek out partners and public and private sources of funding. The recipient will also receive professional guidance and excellent networking opportunities from the circus arts national network En piste.

Residency period
Between January and September 2020.

Residency duration
The residency will last four weeks during the period mentioned above. The schedule is to be determined jointly with each of the partners.

The professional guidance offered by En piste will take place over a two-year period between January 2020 and December 2022, according to a schedule set up jointly between the partner and the grant recipient.
