Re-creation residency followed by dance presentation

Deadline for submissions: Coming

The Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM) and the Accès culture network are joining forces to create more opportunities for encounters between Montrealers and dance artists. These actions are intended to help audiences better understand and appreciate dance, a discipline that is currently blossoming in Montréal.

The residency is aimed at re-creating a work from the company’s repertoire that can be adapted for the network and tour around Montréal. Re-creating a work fulfils the CAM’s desire to prolong the lifespan of works and to enhance the dance sector’s choreographic heritage.

The re-creation residencies offered by four or five venues in the Accès culture network will last from six to 10 weeks, not necessarily consecutive. They will take place in the fall and winter of 2019. Various types of technical support will be offered during this period.

The re-created work will tour as part of the CAM’s touring program (Conseil des arts de Montréal en tournée) from January to June 2020.The selected company will receive a grant of $20,000 from the Conseil des arts de Montréal to support creative efforts, and the Accès Culture Network will provide up to $6,000 as remuneration for the artists and mediator.

Only dance organizations whose operations are supported by CAM are eligible for this program.
