For her writing project, Les rêves recyclés d'une fleur en plastique qui se croyait une vraie fleur, Luiza Cocora will receive playwriting coaching from the CEAD in 2019-2020 as well as production coaching from the ZH Festival in 2020-2021, with two public performances of her work being staged during the festival.

Ms. Cordova is preparing a work of social science fiction revolving around environmental disaster, using a combined documentary and fictional approach. The jury was impressed by the originality and strong theatrical potential of her proposal. As the first winner of this new dramatic writing residency, the author will receive a $3,000 writing grant and a $10,000 production grant to complete her project.

In a cooperative venture, the Conseil des arts and its partners, the Centre des auteurs dramatiques (CEAD), the Playwrights' Workshop Montreal and the ZH Festival this year launched “Les voi.e.s.x théâtrales: dramatic writing residency.” The objective is to provide support and mentoring for theatrical writers from a different cultural community to help them bring to fruition a theatrical writing project intended for public performance.

Luiza Cocora’s work will be two years in the making.
We wish her every success with her creative project!
