New study on cultural philanthropy in Montreal!

The Conseil des arts de Montréal is pleased to announce the launch of a new study on cultural philanthropy in Montreal! The study will be conducted by Wendy Reid, Associate Professor at HEC Montréal.

This unprecedented study will look at the fundraising methods and tactics of arts organizations in Montreal. It will also examine the trends and incentives that have led organizations to turn to philanthropy, as well as the barriers and challenges they have faced. Lastly and most importantly, it will help steer organizations as they seek to adopt a culture of philanthropy or establish philanthropic activities.

Providing support for the study will be a 10-member monitoring committee that will include a representative from each of the following: the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts Foundation, the Opéra de Montréal, Zab Maboungou/ Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata, the Fondation de l’École supérieure de Ballet du Québec, Geordie Theatre, the Fondation du Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Ministère de la culture et des communications du Québec, the Foundation of Greater Montreal, the Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Family Foundation and the Université de Montréal.

Le Conseil des arts de Montréal is intent on building a strong philanthropic culture by becoming a source of information and reference that will inspire the arts sector and engage the Montreal community at large.
