La Machinerie des arts wins the 2018 Prix de la relève – Caisse de la Culture

Montréal, June 8, 2018 – La Machinerie des arts has won the 2018 Prix de la Relève – Caisse de la Culture and its accompanying $5,000 purse. The award recognizes young professional collectives and organizations that take concrete action to assist in the development of emerging artists. The winner was revealed at the Conseil des arts de Montréal’s annual meeting, attended by members of Montréal’s arts community and the Conseil’s partners.

La Machinerie des arts
The jury wished to recognize the formative effect of the Machinerie des arts’s collaborative economic model, which focuses on peer learning, resource sharing, and the pooling of expertise. The Machinerie’s services (orientation meetings, a resource bank, a “partnership desk,” expertise workshops, and a guidance unit) have had a real impact on emerging artists and provide tangible solutions for their management needs.

Honourable mention to Magnéto
The jury also gave honourable mention to Magnéto, who will receive a $ 500 purse from the Caisse de la Culture. The organization whose mission is to develop the creative radio sector by producing, directing, training, and catalyzing radio productions strives to raise awareness of the human scope and cultural value of creative radio. The committee wished to acknowledge the organization’s unique mandate and the impact of its actions, which are helping to develop and popularize the radio and sound recording medium.

The jury was made up of Émilie Monnet, executive and artistic director of Onishka Productions; Patrick Giguère, composer and executive director of Code d’accès; and Axelle Munezero, executive and artistic director  of 100Lux.
