Indigenous Arts Residency

Are you an Indigenous or non-Indigenous organization interested in hosting an Indigenous artist ?


To be eligible, your organization must receive multi-year or project support from the Conseil des arts de Montréal or be a first-time applicant. The hosted Indigenous artist's mandate must be one of the following :

  • research
  • creation/production
  • specialized or multidisciplinary presentation, including artist-run centres and art galleries
  • publication of a cultural magazine
  • organization of an event or festival
  • being a museum

Selected organizations can receive a maximum of $20,000 to host an Indigenous artist-in-residence. 


The Indigenous Arts Residency Program’s goals include: 


  • helping to increase the representation of Indigenous artists in the arts and culture sector; 
  • Increasing the visibility of Indigenous arts in the arts and culture sector and thereby supporting their advancement.


Residencies range from two (2) to twelve (12) months, depending on the Indigenous artist’s needs. This is one-time support.
