Espace Go

From May 6 to May 31, 2014

I can’t wait to go and see, at Espace Go, Anne-Marie Cadieux performing Molly Bloom’s monologue by James Joyce, which opened on May 6. This piece has haunted me ever since I half forgot and half reinvented it, after seeing it performed in a small theatre in Paris (I’ve forgotten the names of the actress, the theatre and the director!). The combination of Brigitte Haentjens, Anne-Marie Cadieux and Joyce is a great one.

Festival TransAmérique

From May 22 to June 7, 2014

I’m going to see Les Particules élémentaires at the FTA, although Houellebecq’s book, the first 100 pages of which I liked, left me feeling disappointed halfway through. I’ve been told, though, that this production is exceptional and I’m curious to see what can be done with a text that, to my mind, was pretty depressing. And I will definitely attend the shows by Paul-André Fortier, Tedd Robinson, Meg Stuart and Denis Marleau.

Librairie Le Port de Tête

The small bookstore called Le Port de Tête on Avenue du Mont-Royal is a must; I go there regularly. I like their book selection, their window displays, and their selection of children’s books. I’ve just bought L’homme blanc by Perrine Leblanc in the Collection Blanche by Gallimard. She’s a young local author. I really enjoyed this first book; I’ll go back to buy the second one.
