5445 avenue de Gaspé

This fine annual fair of contemporary art will be held this year on the 10th floor at 5445 de Gaspé in Mile End. It will be the eighth edition of this event at which art collectors, art lovers and art newbies find themselves rubbing shoulders. Organized by AGAC (Contemporary Art Galleries Association), this is the largest fair of its kind in North America, and every year it attracts more participants! A very interesting event held in a festive atmosphere, it offers us the pleasure of discovering the work of inspiring artists represented by over 40 galleries from across Canada – from Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton and even Vancouver. This is your opportunity to explore the many expressive possibilities offered by the medium of paper, including drawings, prints and photos. Free admission.

Les 7 doigts de la main

In constant pursuit of a balance between theatre – which I am particularly fond of – and circus, this troupe has taught us to expect very physical performances, where humour and sensitivity combine to shifting degrees, always catching us off guard. Try to take in Cuisine et Confessions, now on tour since the shows at TOHU ended. And to appreciate the talent of this troupe unlike any other, you should know that, since its creation in 2002, this artist’s collective has put on shows in over 1,300 cities in 40 different countries.

Go and see them – you won’t be disappointed!

L'Illusion, Puppet Theatre

From March 17 to March 29, 2015

6430, rue Saint-Denis

I really like this puppet theatre, the only one in Montreal, and one which has produced children’s shows since it was created, over 35 years ago. The importance it attaches to creativity and receptivity to new talent and experimental forms makes this theatre a definite must for parents who haven’t yet discovered it. With its fascinating puppets, its entry into the world of imagination and its ability to fill the eyes of children with wonder, how could I, as the father of two small children, aged two and five, be indifferent to the prospect of such an adventure?

From March 17 to 29 – don’t miss Histoires à dormir debout.
