Libres comme l'art

Program of creative residencies for professional artists with the school system

Deadline : December 20, 2012.

Description

The Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM), the Conférence régionale des élus de Montréal (CRÉ) and the Ministère de l’Éducation du Loisir et du Sport (MELS) with its program Une école montréalaise pour tous are proud to partner up for Libres comme l’art : a program in artistic residencies in collaboration with Montréal’s school network.

A program in artistic residencies represents a time period in which creating artists dispose of an adequate working space to complete their creation.  An artistic residency in a scholastic environment implies a certain number of interactions between students and artists to put the youth in direct contact with the artistic professional process. It also allows artists to validate their ideas by exchanging with different people (creation).

All partners in the project agree that Libres comme l’art will bring many benefits such as motivation, discovery and a broadening of horizon for the students involved. In addition, the regular companionship with artists can have a positive impact by offering the students a new model through a steady bond regular enough to establish trust.

Libres comme l’art will work on a call for submissions basis coordinated by the Conseil des arts de Montréal. For the 2012-2013 school year, project must be presented by December 15th, 2011.
