Writer in Residence
Deadline: Competition ended on January 30, 2012. The next deadline is not yet scheduled.
Two residencies in 2012-2013 :
Rivière-des-Prairies et de Pointe-aux-Trembles Libraries
Robert-Bourassa Library in Outremont (reserved for writer for youth audience)
Description
There aren’t only books in libraries—there are also writers! And they don’t only write—they also share their love of writing!
This residency program allows writers to get closer to their communities by offering them a work space in their local library. Over a six-month period (September to February), and with a grant of $15,000, the writer-in-residence will be able to pursue his art, while at the same time sharing his time with his fellow citizens in a cultural project outlined in the writer’s application. In addition to writing, the author could offer public readings, lectures on the art of writing, workshops for aspiring writers, or even put his pen to work on behalf of his fellow citizens. The timetable is flexible, as are the various public activities.
Writers must consult the criteria and parameters of the host borough or city, since each residency is held under their aegis.
