TOURING PROGRAM

(Conseil des arts de Montréal en tournée)

Application deadline: Septembre 30, 2012 for. The next deadline is not yet scheduled.

Description

Did you know that the largest arts tour on the Island of Montreal is supported by the Conseil des arts de Montréal? Every year, its touring program coordinates between 350 and 450 events throughout the city. Why not join in? The program extends the life of recent works and increases the visibility of artists by broadening their audience base and enriching the programs of local presenters.

Funding, by way of touring grants, enables the best recent works to be remounted and presented within the following four categories:

• Circus arts, dance, music, theatre
• Visual Arts
• Media Arts, Film and New Artistic Practices
• Literature

Always on the look-out for innovation, the touring program encourages works that reflect cultural diversity, creativity and emerging artists—and are not afraid to take risks!

Eligibility

This program is mainly for professional non-profit arts organizations. Collectives formed by professional artists working in the disciplines of circus arts, digital arts and world music can also submit an application.

All organizations requesting financial assistance must be recognized as a professional organization, based in the City of Montreal, presenting artistic events on a regular basis and concerned primarily with the creation, production, and presentation of artistic activities.

Cultural organizations cannot submit more than one touring project per year. In exceptional cases, service organizations may submit two different projects for the tour, per year.

All else being equal, the evaluation committees will give priority to projects not having toured in the previous year. Exceptionally, a project deemed to be of high artistic merit could be accepted even if the organization has toured in the previous year with a different project. No project can tour two years.

The tour is exclusively for remounts. Therefore, in order to be eligible for the tour, the proposed piece must have been presented before September 30 of the season for which the organization is submitting a touring application.

Individual artists may not apply for this program.
