Outiller la relève artistique montréalaise

For continual support, emerging artists can count on the Outiller la relève artistique montréalaise (ORAM) project (Providing Tools for Emerging Montreal Artists).

This project arose from a difficult observation: that the professional arts community was having problems integrating young artists. The Forum jeunesse de l'île de Montréal and the Conseil des arts de Montréal therefore decided to tackle the problem head-on. ORAM was designed to make it easier for young artists from all disciplines to gain access to funding, information, training and networks, while at the same time helping them to enter the work market and facilitate the transmission of knowledge from one generation to the next.

In only a few years, thanks to ORAM, the issue of emerging artists became central to the debate on cultural development, in particular at the Rendez-vous novembre 2007 – Montréal, métropole culturelle. ORAM has also provided young artists with a strong and unified voice: the status of emerging artists is now recognized as a key element in the future of the arts. Along with its partners in various ORAM initiatives—CRÉ de Montréal, CALQ, City of Montreal, Service Canada, Fonds de Solidarité FTQ, Caisse de la Culture, Culture Montréal, among others—the Conseil des arts de Montréal continues to find solutions, possibilities and new ways of supporting and encouraging the new generation of artists. After all, they too are making their contributions to our artistic heritage, keeping our culture alive and vibrant.
